About The Client
New Order Coffee was opening their first location in the heart of Downtown Detroit and they needed help gaining brand recognition with their restaurant signage. Their mission statement was to “delight and energize your everyday life” and they needed signage that conveyed this to every customer walking in the door. The owner, Liz, knew her goal was to expand to multiple locations so we needed branding that was universal and easily recognizable across all of Metro Detroit.
Project Overview
As local restaurant signage experts, our team worked very closely with the New Order interior design team to create the exterior and interior branding layout. Custom halo-lit letters were chosen for the main exterior signage in Detroit. Located in the heart of the historical district, the local Detroit municipalities had strict regulations on the signage we could propose.
One of New Order Coffee’s largest goals was to develop a menu board that would fit the space but also allow New Order to change out their coffee selection every few weeks. A one-of-a-kind routed PVC board was designed with custom magnets placed inside the routed inserts for easy changeability.
New Order Coffee’s second location opened in the newly built Beaumont Business Complex. Both locations were facing Woodward and sat only 15 miles apart. The Royal Oak municipalities allowed for more diversity than the original location in Detroit so we creatively worked up restaurant signage that matched the fonts and text colors of Detroit, but also brought in some branding colors. You can’t miss the vibrant teal signage when driving down Woodward. Unique wall wraps and window graphics were brought in at the Royal Oak location to give a unique feel. The custom wall graphics might be our favorite part of this project!
The Result
We are excited to continue helping New Order Coffee expand as we assist with their 3rd location. Upon the project’s completion, both the designer and the client felt that the branded space successfully communicated New Order Coffee’s purpose and mission to the visitors.
