About The Client
Under the name “New Beginning Baptist Church,” this congregation has been serving the Madison Heights greater community for over 10 years but really their story began many years prior. New Beginning was formed when Gospel Free Will Baptist in Warren and Royal Oak General Baptist in Royal Oak came together. This facility in Madison Heights seats 300 and has a dedicated group parishioners who do God’s work within the church and throughout the community.
Project Overview
It was spring of 2018 when members of the church walked into our facility inquiring about a digital LED sign to upgrade their existing monument sign. As a growing church they were looking to increase their reach in the public space, as well as through membership. Their existing was sign was effective in the fact the name of the church and worship times were there, however it had a very old wooden, outdated look. Additionally, when they did have any special events or other information to share, they would roll out a marquee-style changeable letter sign to convey the message. They thought clearly there must be a better solution.
As with all LED sign applications, cost is always something to consider and it is not always easily affordable even for churches or schools with group assistance. For a standard illuminated ground sign cabinet/LED display, the cost in most cases is going to be around the $25,000 range (installed). The goal with this sign was to have a unit with the most current technology and display optimally for location.
The church is in a subdivision that happens to intersect a very busy service drive. After completion of the survey, Signarama concluded that a double unit would make the most sense for application with a LED display of approximately 2’ x 8’ in size and overall sign size of 4’ x 8’ with the addition of header cabinet which includes the name of the church. Once our general drawing and quotes were sent out, it took a few design tweaks and some follow-up phone communication over the next few months but eventually we got the ball rolling.
The Result
Once the order was approved this project took about 8-10 weeks with most of that being the 5 week delivery on the LED display itself. The display used was full color and had wireless communication from a PC within the church to the sign. New Beginning Baptist Church can on the fly communicate more effectively and reach the masses through their technology upgrade.
