Several communities throughout Metro Detroit have an identity that involves signage. This was very much the case with Greenwhich Park…with the one exception of needing the “Welcome” signs. Looking for a durable high end looking product our client was thinking about a 3D routed hdu or sandblasted type of a sign. These signs can be produced from the traditional wood to the more practical routed HDU or even PVC. Both options look very natural and fit into the outdoor environment. For this particular project we chose to use HDU.
HDU or (high density urethane) is the wood alternative for wood signs in the sign industry. This particular product is more or less a rigid foam that is lightweight and can be sandblast or routed using some of today’s modern machines. It can easily be painted and holds up very well to the elements and will not crack or curl with outside exposure. Greenwhich purchased several of these routed HDU signs which were installed throughout the borders of the community.
