About The Client
For over 50 years, Shelby Lanes has been an entertainment hub on Van Dyke Avenue for bowlers. They have more than 24 lanes of bowling fun and also have a bar and grill to satisfy patrons cravings. In the facility there is a pool table, arcade games and air hockey as well.
Metro Detroit is known for producing some of the best bowlers in the world! Bowling has been a popular pastime in the region since the early 20th century, with the first bowling alley in Detroit opening in 1906. By the 1950s, there were over 400 bowling alleys in the Metro Detroit area, making it one of the largest bowling communities in the country.
Project Overview
Shelby Lanes in Shelby Township, Michigan has been in business for over 50 years. The Shelby Lanes sign had become worn and weathered after approximately 25 years of use. Additionally, the sign did not accurately convey the business’s image and the city required it to be relocated to increase the setback for roadwork. Signarama Troy met with Shelby Lanes to discuss their brand, culture, and vision for a new sign. Working closely with our design department, Signarama developed a new sign that embodies the essence of the business – fun, visually appealing, and nostalgic. To enhance its functionality, we incorporated a Digital Message Center that allows the owner to advertise events, services, birthdays, pro shop, job openings, and other activities available at the location. Our goal was to make Shelby Lanes a fun, safe, and professional environment for all who visit.
The Result
Working on a project for a company like Shelby Lanes is not only fun, but also a great opportunity to witness a brand that has been in business for over 50 years, continue to grow and evolve. Shelby Lanes has become a well-known name among consumers all over Metro Detroit and in particular, Shelby Township, where their bowling is ever-increasing.
