Project Overview
At the beginning of 2018 the company leased a 40,000 square foot facility in Troy, nearly double the size of their former location in Madison Heights. The new building had freeway exposure and a large existing pylon sign that needed a sign facelift. Bontaz reached out to our team to inquire about solutions.
After our initial onsite consultation there were a few additional needs which included: a panel change on an existing sign at the main entrance, two wall signs, along with the primary objective of a new illuminated cabinet for their monument sign. Although we were just replacing the large sign that was there already, we still had to concede a little with the overall sign height from grade, and the overall sign square footage.
The size restriction was really a non-issue as the sign was 72” x 200” overall, and at that size its presence would still be easily known. In order to make the sign change, our team removed the existing sign cabinet, cut down the height of the two existing poles (to conform to city guidelines), and then secured/welded our sign to the existing poles. A flex face sign cabinet system was manufactured in this application because of the overall size. This style of cabinet varies in the fact the face (graphic panel) is actually a stretched and tightened banner material instead of a traditional acrylic plastic panel. Once stretched thoroughly it looks just like a rigid panel and is tight as a drum. Benefits for choosing this option include having the panel be seamless, as well as having no overlaps with graphic content.
The Result
This is a great example of a large-scale sign that we can handle the fabrication of in-house, while also providing installation with our own crew. Driving past this sign on my way to work it always catches my eye and at the same time brings a smile to my face.
