My name is Bianca Iacopelli and I started working at SIGNARAMA Troy on Tuesday May 28th, 2013. A day after Memorial Day! I am happy to have been hired as the Graphic Designer at SIGNARAMA Troy. I’m in charge of designing snazzy signage and preparing files for production in order for them to print perfectly!
I recently graduated with a Fine Arts Bachelor’s Degree, majoring in Graphic Design, from the College for Creative Studies in Detroit. I started off drawing and painting as a child and moved into the computer aided design world my senior year of high school. I have been designing professionally for almost five years now, and I absolutely love it. I am so passionate about design that I actually studied abroad in the Netherlands for almost a month in order to broaden my skills.
Since I started at SIGNARAMA Troy I have been privileged to work on some pretty cool projects for our shop. Some of the designs I have produced were utilized on various substrates for a wedding seating chart, deli window graphics, golf outing signs, a welcome home military banner and banners for various local businesses. My favorite design so for was working on the decals for Kid Rock’s personal wave runners!
I believe I am a great fit for this team because I’m a hard-worker, enjoy designing high quality art, and I am excellent at receiving feedback. I think constructive criticism is a positive communication which allows me to learn more each and every day. I am excited to work in the sign industry because it is something very new for me! I have worked in marketing departments for cosmetic distributors, publication offices, advertising agencies, and small boutique design studios, but never at a sign company! I’m excited to learn new skills and collaborate ideas with some really great people!
On April 8, 2013 I started at SIGNARAMA Troy as the Sales Support/Administration Staff. I am usually the first person anyone calling or walking into SIGNARAMA speaks to! I have many responsibilities including assisting clients with orders, selling signs and other products, organizing and assisting other team members and keeping the showroom presentable for all of our great clients to visit!
After graduating from Western Michigan University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications and Journalism, I headed home to the east side and started my adventure as a business owner! In 2005 my father and I opened a printing shop up in Imlay City which we operated until 2009. I loved the interaction with customers, who became friends, the fast paced environment and the creativity I was able to express in my work. Since moving on from my shop I have spent the past few years in sales for a few different companies including the Better Business Bureau. My experiences have set a great platform for me to be an asset to the team at SIGNARAMA Troy.
From the first moment I walked into the showroom at SIGNARAMA I had a feeling this was the place I belonged. It has everything I loved about running my shop and more! I am finally in a position where I can use the sales and creative skills I am passionate about. I feel like I am at home when I come to work because of the team I have the pleasure of working with every day! It’s a place where everyone rolls up their sleeves to get work done and still has time to laugh and enjoy what we do!
I am excited to be back in the sign industry and to continue my career at SIGNARAMA Troy. The best part about being here is my involvement in a trade I LOVE and not having to pay the bills (sorry Bob)! I look forward to a long term career, helping our team grow and continue to succeed throughout the years!

What does the Graphic Designer position do at your Metro Detroit Signarama?

Based on your experience, the position is paid hourly. Knowledge of the sign industry is not required at all, but experience with Adobe Creative Suite is a must. We need someone who has actual work experience with these software programs, and not someone who has watched a few online tutorials. No offense to those of you looking to improve your skills… but we need an Illustrator Warrior!
SIGNARAMA provides graphics and signage of all kinds directly to local businesses (large and small) and often for churches, schools and other industries. After an order is placed at SIGNARAMA, “Where Metro Detroit Goes for Signs”, we take a few precautions to ensure a smooth transaction from start to finish. One of the ways we provide our clients with world class service, is having them proof every order before we put it into production.
We enforce this even when our clients provide ready to print artwork. Many clients ask why we request them to proof artwork for even the most simple jobs. This extra step may seem like an inconvenience to some, but we want to prevent just that!
At SIGNARAMA we want to make sure you are getting the finished product you ordered, with the quality you always expect from us. Therefore by having you look at a proof of what you’ve ordered, we can help avoid having to revise jobs, miss deadlines and waste materials. At SIGNARAMA we appreciate the time it takes to go through these steps so we have streamlined the process to make it as easy on our respective clients as we can! Our process allows you to approve your artwork or request revisions as soon as we have the design completed by email or in person. Either way, we provide you with a quick and easy process which allows us to execute the best customer service possible!
Some of the things that we often catch with “quick proofs”:
- Simple misspellings (last names especially!)
- Incorrect phone numbers (most often on a reorder of a sign we made years ago with your old number listed?)
- Wrong colors… it is possible you mentioned sapphire blue on the phone to us, but we listed it as navy blue. That can be a big difference!
- Quantity of signs – this can really make a small mistake into a big one!
Just over a year ago, we merged with the Rochester sign shop SIGNARAMA. This merger brought a lot of things to us, with one of the main being our move up to Troy. As many of you know, this move to Troy, has given us a better location, providing us with the space to fit a large flatbed printer!
Even though we merged with the Rochester Hills location, we still have people asking us if we know of a good Rochester sign shop. The answer is a resounding yes! We are the source for all of your signage. With our close location in Troy, we can handle any project you have.

Wondering who that unfamiliar face is that is in and out of the office lately? Don’t be mistaken; that is Drew—our new Outside Sales Representative! His main duty will be to spread our name to businesses that are unaware of the Sign-A-Rama experience. Although he is new to Sign-A-Rama-Detroit, his true journey began in 2009, where he actually worked as Store Manager of the Plymouth-Canton location before briefly leaving the company. When he, however, was approached with a sales oriented position with us, he was thrilled to bring his exceptional customer service skills back to both the Sign-A-Rama family and customers!
If you have called the store lately, you may be wondering why Torey is not on the line. Well, that new voice on the phone is Katelyn, our Inside Sales Representative! Torey has recently been promoted to Project Manager, so we brought in Katelyn to take on the job! Have small indoor signage needs, such as A-Frames or banners? Katelyn is your girl! She will assist you with the ordering of your smaller signs, while keeping you up-to-date with the status of it all! Although she has years of experience in sales, she is new to the sign industry, and ready to expand her knowledge of everything signs!
If you will be needing real-estate signs installed sometime in the near future, then you will soon be having the pleasure to meet our last, but certainly not least, addition to the family—Micah! As our new Real Estate Installer, he is ready to make your Sign-A-Rama experience even easier with installing your larger, v-shaped real-estate signs. With a great deal of construction and installing work under his belt, he will be working with Nick, our already existing installer, to make the process as quick and hassle-free as possible. No matter the weather, Micah will be more than happy to do the job! We are excited to have Micah, along with Drew and Katelyn, as a part of the team!
